Deadline 1: A fresh pair of eyes

My first university assignment deadline was the 31st October which came around much quicker than anyone expected. Luckily I had done as advised and kept myself organised by keeping on top of the reading and essays we had been set each week. This was a massive help when the deadline rolled around as I didn’t have to panic about not finishing writing my patchwork essay on time. What took a lot longer than anticipated however was the proof-reading!

Whilst I always try to leave time before the deadline to proof-read my work sometimes I’ve spent that much time staring at the same piece of work that my eyes start to glaze over and my brain switches off because it’s already worked hard on that piece so why should it have to do it again right? Well this is what family members are there for! I remember all those times I’ve helped them with “The Facebook” or “stopping those rubbish emails”. Well now I need their help, it’s time for them to repay the favour. Having a fresh pair of eyes or two reading over my work always helps spot little mistakes that I never even noticed and gives me a chance to correct them before I get marked down for proof-reading errors by the next pair of eyes to read my work!

So, the most important lesson I learned from my first assignment was to leave myself time to not only proof-read my work myself but also to send a quick email to my parents with an essay attached for them to proof-read too.
